ABOUT GERALD DESMOND
GERALD DESMOND received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1970. Jerry was awarded his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law, in 1974. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1974.
Mr. Desmond was a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Long Beach between 1974 and 1981. During his tenure with the City of Long Beach, he served as trial counsel, representing the City in the defense of personal injury cases, including wrongful death and alleged police misconduct litigation. He also served as legal advisor to the City of Long Beach Civil Service Commission while he was a Deputy City Attorney. Mr. Desmond has been in private practice since 1981. He was associated with the firm of Babin, Seeger & Hardcastle from 1989 to 1993, before starting his own firm in 1993.
Mr. Desmond has extensive litigation experience, having tried over 40 civil cases to verdict, including 30 jury trials in California State Courts and in various Federal Courts. He has experience not only in personal injury litigation, but also in products liability, premises liability, construction defect and other contractual disputes.
He is a member of the California and Sonoma County Bar Associations and the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California (1974), and the United States Supreme Court (1980).
